The PSP Has Landed! (Lookout iPod!)

The wait for the Sony Playstation Portable is over. I received mine today along with WipeOut Pure, Untold Legends and Spider-Man 2. The PSP looks fantastic. Photos don't do it justice. The screen is ultra clear, the controls are very well laid out (analog stick is great in Wipeout) and it sounds awesome.

I don't think it will repalce the iPod as my favorite music device because there's no hard drive and I don't think I could live with a memory stick full of music and no way to listen to the music in my car.... but for movies and games this is perfect.

One note - in order to turn on the network function you have to slide a button on the left side to the on position. Geez! I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why the PSP was telling me my WLAN setting was off, until I found out about that switch in the manual.

How to Podcast (part 6)

Check Out: Griffin iTalk
Check out my first podcast from my car using the Griffin iTalk. I think it would work best for meetings or casual recordings. The conversion from WAV to MP3 sort of messed up the audio as well. It sounded much better as a WAV file. I'll have to figure a better way to compress than iTunes.

How to Podcast (part 5)

iFP-795T
Check Out: iFP-795T
The Griffin iTalk was a little bit of the let down, but I think most of the problem is with the iPod's frequency limitations (8 kHz) and less the mic. It had a lot of popping with higher volumes of my voice and in the car (the bass from the stereo created major pops).
So I ordered an iFP-795T from Amazon. Its basically the same device that Adam Curry and others have mentioned on the Daily Source Code but it is the 512MB version rather than the 1GB version. I don't think that I needed the extra 512MB since I'm only planning on using it for recording and not for playing music (leave that to my 20GB iPod). I'll be trying it out with the Griffin Lapel Mic and will probably get another mic from the local music store. Once Adelphia fixes my broadband connection I'll be able to upload a few samples.
