Welcome to iPhone

When are we ever getting it? Think about a iPod sized device with a flash rom memory (512mb to 1gb) that is fully synchable with Mail, Address, Book, iCal and iTunes. Bluetooth and WiFi networking built in for easy synching and for use as a modem when you are away from home. Check out all the concept images on the net: Apple iPhone

gCount

Here's a cool application that helps with your GMail account. gCount is a menu bar and/or Dock item that displays the unread status of the inbox of a recently popular email service. It is provided free of charge. It requires Mac OS X 10.3 or later.

Apple iGirl

So I am surfing for Mac images in Google Images and it comes back with the G4 Girl. Too bad she's already obsolete. I didn't find any dual-G5 girls out there. No Powerbook girls either.

Drink. Win. Play

Wouldn't be nice if a beer company joined forces with Apple instead of Pepsi? First off you probably wouldn't be able to see the codes by tilting the bottle. Second, for all of us that don't like to drink sodas we could get free music with the beverage of choice.

So then it wouldn't be so bad to play the Drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. Win. Drink. Play. Drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. Drink. Game.

Mac Mini - A Bargin Rip Off

So Apple has launched a new cube like computer that comes with no display, keyboard or mouse in order to entice PC users to switch and old Mac users to upgrade. Sounds great, but not if you are a new computer user or a laptop person wanting a desktop computer as well or you just want to get quality Apple equipment to go with your Mini.

My Mini Recommendations:

  • Apple should make a 15 & 17 inch display so you don't have to buy a non Apple display. They already make 12, 14, 15 & 17 inch displays for the iBooks and Powerbooks as well as a 17 inch for the iMac. However, Apple's cheapest display is $999.00 for a 20 incher. That's 2x the cost of a mini.
  • It would have been nice for the Mini to be the cheapest most powerful little desktop out there. The small size is very cool as a bunch of hackers and geeks seem to now have thousands of novel ideas to where they can cram a Mini (their car, next to the TV, etc.) but if Apple wants to get the masses they should have made it a little cheaper by using less miniturization. The business model should be the iPod shuffle; cheaper and higher capacity than the competition. Gateway may not have a better computer but to newbies they see that they can get a computer, mouse, keyboard and display for $100 less (Gateway 3200 SE is $499 after rebate).
  • On that last note... how about some cheap G3's to compete with the rock bottom Celeron computers. Sure if you are used a to a G4 or G5 a G3 Mac seems s l o w, but if you are a Windows users looking to switch, a vintage era Mac would do the trick. How about launching some multi-colored iBook G3's. All the same colors as iPod Minis.
